In 2020, when then- President Donald Trump wanted to ban Chinese-owned video platform TikTok, its CEO stepped down after three months. Pappas took on the job in the interim and deftly kept TikTok afloat. She’s since moved into the COO role—and what some have called the most influential job in the world.
