In 2020, the U.S. oil company also faced plunging prices and reported a staggering loss of nearly $15 billion. Now the Anadarko deal and rising oil prices are paying off: Oxy swung to a $2.3 billion profit last year, and Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway owns a 20% stake.
