McKesson

McKesson is a global leader in health care supplies, retail pharmacy, and pharmaceutical distribution. Founded in 1833, the company is the fourth-largest pharmacy chain in the country, with over 5,000 retail pharmacy locations at Health Mart, McKesson’s retail subsidiary franchise. McKesson is also the nation’s largest drug distributor, responsible for a third of all pharmaceuticals used each day in North America. Over the past few years, the company has faced thousands of lawsuits and a federal criminal investigation because of its alleged role in the nationwide opioid epidemic. In 2019, along with three other top American drug distributors, McKesson reached a $260 million settlement with two counties in Ohio over their role in the overdose crisis. As of May 2021, the company had administered more than a million COVID-19 vaccine shots as the country continues on the path to recovery from the coronavirus.
